2014 Movie Thoughts

Top movie at the box office was Guardians of the Galaxy, Meh.  Great for kids and lots of action with a few Easter eggs to tie in with the Avengers, which I really liked.

Hunger Games, Meh

Captain America the winter soldier, good

The Lego Movie, didn't see it.

Transformers; Age of Extinction, Meh, ok.

Maleficent, nope

Interstellar, great movie.  Kids will not like it, but if you have ever thought about black holes and time travel you will find it interesting.

Hobbit comes out today, I am sure it will be good but I am still mad that they made that story three movies.

Surprise movies that were nowhere on any good list.

The Signal  about some MIT students and amature hackers that get blamed for a hack that they did not do.  They try to track mystery hacker down and when they do it goes crazy.  Great trick ending.  Definitely for the sci fi fan.  Good for people that like good low budget thinking movies.

There is another "The Signal" movie out there that got great reviews for a low budget film that I have not seen.  Neat idea though.  HERE.

Older but still great low budget sci fi films.

Cube

A Sound Of Thunder Time travel based on the butterfly effect.

The move Primer and MOON make all these list but I have only seen MOON, good movie but not at the top of my list.  Great trick ending though.

Year end TV Review

Homeland fell flat for the season finale.  Very little resolution and seems like it should have been one more episode.  Most disappointed I have been with that show.  Still great.

NCIS, why do I even watch that show.  Highest rated show on tv and it isn't that great.

The 100, on the WB, I know, I know, but a friend told me about it and it is good with a decent sci fi premise.  Should be on SYFY but they only show ghost reality shows now.  Worth a watch if you like sci fi.

The Blacklist was is the best show on network tv by far.  Good characters plus the great James Spader.

A close second was Hannibal.  Gory to a fault but it really needs to be to tell that story.

Elementary is worth a watch, neat take on modernizing Sherlock Holmes.

Sherlock is great on the BBC.  Starring the weird Benedict Cumberbatch, who oddly enough is a great actor.  Watson is played by young Bilbo Baggins fame Martin Freeman.  Both have gained a lot of notoriety since Sherlock started and both want to continue to do this show, great for me.

Watched Luther on BBC a long time ago, good British cop show.

I stayed with Sons of Anarchy, why I do not know, but I did and it is over.  Good.

Speaking of FX tv, The Strain was great.  A new look at the whole vampire story.  I will watch next season.

The Americans, looking forward to it.  80's Russian spy show, watch it.

Justified, looking forward to it.  Also the last season but it will be missed.

Started watching Vikings, I am hooked.  I wonder how historically accurate that is.

Speaking of the SYFY channel, they seem to want to fail.  The greatest show they ever did was Battlestar Galactica.  Which I loved, call me a nerd but watch it and then call me a nerd.  It seems after they had legitimate success with BSG they decided to go a different direction with all the reality shows about ghost and costume design.  Shortly after BSG they did Stargate Universe which was a loose spin off to the 10 year tv series SG1 whch was a spin off of the move Stargate staring Kurt Russel.  SGU was great but they put it in a terrible time slot and it failed.  Partly because of the severe nerds that wanted to stay true to the SGU series starring MacGyver.  Oh well I think they have learned their lesson that they need at least one space opera to satisfy the masses.

Speaking of, they just did a mini series called Ascension, which oddly enough is how BSG started.  The show was good, but they did not seem to give it 100%, just fell flat in certain places.  Watch it and let me know.  Could lead to a series with some potential.  Ascension also starred the hopelessly unattractive Tricia Helfer, which should not hurt its chances.

Also SYFY is trying to make a series of the movie Twelve Monkeys, it will be called 12 Monkeys, see what they did there?

Longmire may be cancelled but it was a good modern day western.

True Detective was great, really graphic, but good.

Rectify is slow and uneventful but I could not stop watching.

And of course The Walking Dead, greatness.

Well Eugene was full of crap.  I kept waiting for one of the group to say "yeah we knew"  but they all seemed surprised when he let it out that he was not a scientist.  Come on, of course he isn't, that mullet was too cool to be used on a scientist.

I hope they elaborate on Ford's past.

Not a big fan of having dedicated episodes to each faction, I guess that is why I think the last two episodes were a little slow.

I am looking to make extra money, so a friend told me about Thumbtack neat site that lets you post needed services online and the contractors will bid/submit quotes for the work.  So I thought that it would be good for me to get on there and submit some quotes.  So the first day I signed up, posted some pics of previous jobs that I have completed, set my desired projects that I would like to submit prices for, and waited.  They started really flying in, I found one I liked and submitted a price.  I got my price in about 3 minutes after it was posted and I was the 10th submission.  There is some real competition on this site.  Looks like Thumbtack is better for the home owner than contractors.

Baby Girl was an 80's dancer chick, legwarmers, headband and really cute.  Had no idea what was going on.  Kids that are in their teens should not trick or treat.

Montel Williams seems like a good guy.

This weeks episode of the Walking Dead was all about Beth.  Kinda boring till the end when Carol shows up!  Really like her caracter.  Called it!
They did not answer who was with Daryl when he showed back up to the group, but I am guessing it was Noah.  They guy that got away when he and Beth were trying to escape the hospital.

I am hoping that Daryl and Carol ran into Noah giving them the idea to get someone on the inside to help get Beth out.  He would provide great insight to the politics of that place.

Beth looked to be getting ready to go out with a bang.

Cowboys lost two in a row.  Romo being out, the loss is still his fault, according to some Romo haters.

They play in London this week.

I don't get why the NFL pushes franchises on Los Angeles and even London.  Los Angeles doesn't want one and the viability and cost to have one in London doesn't look to make sense.  Would be neat to have one in London though.  Be neater to have one in San Antonio.

Cowboys Cowboys Cowboys

Cowboys lost to the Redskins in OT last night.  We should have won but turnovers and questionable coaching calls prevented that.

We have to remember that that was Washington's Superbowl and it was just another game for us.  Also for a good "rivalry" you have to loose occasionally.

Dez is a beast, Murray is a beast, the offensive line got tested last night.  Young but still good.  Romo is a trooper, and I feel a little better about him going out with the back knowing that Weeden can play.  What little we saw of him last night.

Baby girl is funny and smart.  Says hi and waves to every living thing.  That will make your day.

Been job hunting, not as hot a market as I thought.

Kids, Sugar, and Cokes here and here, found this interesting.

Baby girl may be 30 before she has a coke.

I see Christian persecution everyday, if there is muslim persecution in the US you will see an uproar of defense.  Christians are the subject of punchline jokes every day in the media, and it is accepted, but the beheading muslims get a world of sympathy.
I hear secularist laying blame to Christan's for many historical acts, even the Oklahoma bombing, he was a former Catholic turned devout agnostic!  Closest thing he had to religion was stating that science is my religion.  So liberals are justified in persecuting a religion because of it past misdoings?  Where is the tolerance for that?

More Walking Dead and stuff

Well Bob was bit, and in that one episode Bob became one of my favorite characters.  So sad, but I loved how he threw it in their face that he was infected.  Like it sux I am going to die, but since I am HA, you eating tainted meat.  What a way to face the zombie death and cannibalism.

Tyreese is like a ticking time bomb, and I am afraid that it might explode on the group.  Or miraculously help the team out.  Who knows, but it is coming.  I do feel better when he is watching Little Ass Kicker (Judith)  I think she has helped him realize that sometimes you got to do bad things to prevent bad things.  I was a little disappointed to see that he let Martin live after he threatened Judith's life.

Glenn and Maggie may be a little tired of Rick and some of the violence.  Just from their looks last night when the head bashing began.  Which is stupid, they need someone like that on the team, how many times has the tough decision been made and implemented by Rick?  Oh well we will see them shortly.  I think.

Is it just me, but Eugene and Ford a full of crap, right?

Who is with Daryl?  Why they hanging back, if it was Carol why wouldn't she be by his side?  Pick up a straggler?  Carol stay back with Beth?  I am assuming that next episode will be all about Beth and where she has been and possibly what Daryl and Carol have been doing, again I am assuming that Daryl and Carol, found Beth, or at least where she is being held.

IMDB has the title of the episode which leads us to believe that it is a Beth focused Episode, the description is vague as usual.

I have always liked the Morgan Jones character, probably because I like the actor.  After season 1 I kept saying I miss that guy, then they bring him back all crazy and what not.  And I was glad to see that he is back, hope he joins the cast, and is Sane.

I liked last season because it seemed that they had a couple of chances to relax.  I like to relax.

I intentionally have avoided the Graphic Novel, I don't want any spoilers.  That isn't to say that I will not make predictions.

When this show ends I will probably go back and read the Graphic Novel.

That is a weird name Graphic Novel, it does make sense the one's I have looked at.  Some are a bit too graphic and seem to exist to be more graphic than novel.

Cowboys play on Monday night.  I hate weekday football.  Throws off my whole week.  It's Jerry's fault.

Baby girl is crawling everywhere, and now pulling up.  Talking more and really strong.  Very health and I am extremely grateful for that.

Killed a snake in the garage last week.  Tiny little thing was probably harmless, but it had to die.  Hit it 127 times with a broom handle.  Probably died on whack #2.

We have a bobcat that roams around our back yard from time to time.  That thing is big.  I like bobcats, they eat rats mice and snakes.  Some small dogs might want to avoid.

People are getting dumber, more lazy, more dependent, and more annoying every day.

For the dumb;  listen more and yap less.  Do it until you get it right.

For the lazy. click here

For the dependent also click above.

For the annoying, STOP IT!  Click above for safe measure.

For those of you that say Fox News is Conservative... maybe so, but in that same note you need to admit that all the other 24 hour news stations are liberal.  Conservatives have known this for years.  That is why Fox News has been so popular.  For a group of people that scream tolerance they sure arent tolerant of a Conservative news program.

My baby girl is Awesome!

Been lifting weights fairly good for the past two weeks.  I'm Sore.

I want to be more creative.  This blog sux and doesn't make me feel creative.

Funny of the day, and true.

Walking Dead Spoiler Alert

Walking Dead is a great show.  So I will assume that all 2 of my readers watch the Walking Dead, last episode Bob was taken hostage and will be used as a means of sustenance, starting with his legs.  I had the notion that he was infected before being kidnapped and I still feel that may be true.  I think he was bitten while at the food bank and in the water one of the evil bastards bit him on the leg.  That would explain him acting weird.

The other explanation of him acting weird could be that his buddies were drinking wine while resting in the church, he is a alcoholic and was feeling the urge to pound back a few, but resisted.

I hope he is infected, not to loose Bob, but to take a few of the captors out in the process.  He is already down one leg and will be a burden to the group.  Hershel having only one leg was one thing, they were held up in a fairly secure prison and did not need to flee at the spur of the moment.

Anyway this season is looking good.  Please let me hear your thoughts.

End of the world

We always hear about the end of the world, be it zombie apocalypse, nuclear war or the biblical Armageddon.  Truth is we will not know when it will happen and people have been saying the end is near for 2 thousand years.

It will be ushered in by political correctness, a false sense of love, and bullshit.

In thinking about what it means to be Conservative I often think of my fathers childhood.  He was raised in a very poor home.  He made if very clear to me growing up that I had it good.  Not in a demeaning way but just so you know this is how I had it, and others around you don't have it as good as you do..  He was doing this so I would be thankful, and I was.  One story of his was how he got a new pair of shoes once a year.  ONE, no sports shoes, and dress shoes, or casual shoes, one pair for the year for everything.  Now this may have meant that he had to play during recess in what I imagine as semi formal leather lace up shoes of the time, and he would have to play outside and get them dirty knowing that as soon as he was done it was time to clean.  Remove mud, brush, clean with saddle soap, oil if necessary, apply polish if necessary.   He at a young age was taught a valuable lesson in taking car of you stuff.  It really wan't a lesson as much as it was a way of life.  He passed this lesson along to me, I know how to take care of leather shoes and boots.  To this day keep a brush, can of mink oil, and rags ready to keep em looking good.  Other times his lessons in taking care of things were a bit harsh.  I could tell that he was mad and why he was mad because I knew enough of his child hood to understand.  That made me feel worse.  Here I was getting all the things he never was able to, and not taking care of them.  What a slap in the face to my father.  Sorry dad.

If you know you are only getting one pair of shoes a year, you will take care of them.  Today we can tell kids this but they know they will get another pair.  Plus they have workout shoes, dress shoes, casual shoes.  I hear all the time, we have to have this stuff!  Shoes, dresses, costumes for theatre, football cleats.  Today the school doesn't provide much and if you want your kids active you will be buying stuff.  But where does the lesson fall.  On one hand we want our kids active, we want them in programs, in sports.  But each time we get them gear, costumes, what ever we are teaching them that they get stuff for free.  However this could be taught as they are getting what they need.  I hope so because I feel like I am letting them down by getting them what they need, when we still give them what they want.  I think backing off what they want is the key and open communication about how they are getting all this stuff when others don't have any stuff.

As parents we want to provide, we also want to give.  Giving is where we should tap the breaks.  Kids do not need all they have and if they get into a routing of getting 90% of everything they want they will be disappointed as adults.  I have said for some time, spoiled kids make unhappy adults.  Parents jobs are to raise well adjust Christian adults. As adults we don't get everything we want and should have learned by then how to filter our need vs want.  I deal with this all the time.  Harley, Man Barn, swimming pool.  We try to justify them but it all boils down to soul searching and realizing that this is a want and not a need.  Now where do we draw the line.  I am not saying live like a monk, but We as parents need to do better in teaching our kids need vs want.

Being conservative has little to do with politics, it has to do with conserving and not living with excess.

What do we really need, not what do we want.

Been a while.  Busy with baby, work and yard.  Had a little garden this year.  Got started late but grew some nice squash.  I also planted tomatoes and cantaloupe.  The tomatoes I believe were too late in the season and have not produced anything.  The squash I believe has produced the last of the bunch.  I noticed last night the cantaloupe has developed four small cantaloupes and I have high hopes for them.

Lessons learned...

Start when you are supposed to.  There are thousands of resources out there that tell you when to plant.  I ignored them all.

Plant more.  I had one squash plant and that was plenty for our family, but I really should have planted some zucchini, okra, peppers, just to have some variety.

Meet other residential gardeners and start trading.

Grow from seed starting a couple of months before the suggested planting date.

Tillers are awesome.

I have started studying the Bible again.  I have drifted away from that and my happiness is a direct mirror on my relationship with God.  We moved and have yet to find a church home.  I believe that to grow as a Christian we need a church home.  I hear all the time that to be a Christian you do not have to go to church.  Maybe not but to grow as a Christian we have to fellowship and bear fruit.  Not sure how that analogy came about but I understand it.  I don't think to be a Christian we have to go to church but as Christians we will want to.  Not having a church home leaves a hole in me.  I want a church I want to be in a life group and meet with people that deal with the things I deal with.

One of our issues is that we have a teenage girl that really does not want to go to youth group.  We keep trying to find the perfect church for her.  That may be our problem.  I usually forget myself at that age and I did not want to get out of my comfort zone either.  My parents made me.  I believe we will have to do that with her.  I feel for her not wanting to be around other teenagers, teenagers suck.  I do not want her to carry that trait too far.  She will eventually have to learn to deal with others.  Might as well start now.

Boys

The young lady in the house has a boy she likes.  UGH..  Not sure I am ready for this nor am I capable of making this a smooth right of passage.  I am her step father but I am also the one in the family that is most protective of her.  Which makes for interesting arguments.  The boy is no good.  Plain and simple, he will never amount to much and has no real positive characteristics.  I know almost every father has said the same thing about their daughters first boyfriend, but I can prove it.  Not now but maybe soon.

I saw the following on Facebook today.

I love this, it says a lot.  Unfortunately our boys now a days are not really boys on their way to being men.  The boys today do not pick girls up, they do not pay for dates, they are boys that want to date but do not want any of the responsibility of dating.  Now that school is out they do not get to see each other every day.  YES!  Hold on though, about once a week he gets invited to summer outings with my family while I am at work.  He does not pay for anything, and he has to be picked up.  As parents my wife and I make sure when our kids go somewhere they have money, we make sure they offer to pay their way.  That leaves it up to the host parent to say "thats ok" or "no thank you we got it".  Not this boy.  Big ole mooch.  So reason # 157 why I don't like this kid.  So I am trying to slow things down with this boy, show her that in the future he will not be a good husband.  He is a little boy, in mental development and size, I pointed this out to her and said what if a wild animal attacked you?  How would he defend you, you know what she said?  "I will protect him".  Wow.  Did we fail as parents?  OR is this puppy love and the young lady making any excuse to put him in a positive light?  I really hope this kid moves or gets put in prison soon because I really want her to have a boyfriend that is on his way to becoming a man, who treats her great and wants to take care of her.  Is that too much to ask for?  The young boy in the house turned 13, he will treat girlfriends the right way, he will pay for dates, and his girlfriends parents will not pick him up.  That I can promise.

I used to call the preaching of Joel Osteen’s “feel good preaching" or the style "feel good theology”.  He would preach about being right with God and being financially prosperous if you were right with God.  God makes no such promise.  He clearly states that our reward is in heaven and is well worth waiting for.  These feel good pastors spread the dangerous theology that if we follow Gods will we will be rewarded here on earth and that isn’t true.  Bad things will happen to the greatest of Christian people.  God isn’t punishing us, he may just be testing us, he may be testing someone else.  We do not know his will.

Being critical of this theology I realized I was really wrong as well.

I was wrong, being a Christian does feel good, it gives true peace happiness and love.  It does not make one perfect (I'm writing this on 6 beers) but while here on earth it is the closest thing one can hope for.

I now call this type of preaching lies.

Beware of millionaire pastors
On Facebook I follow many of the conservative talking heads, The Blaze,  Chicks on the Right  to name a few.

I find it funny how both of these pages come to the support of known liberals when other liberals attack them.  Well maybe not funny but ironic.  For example, Ellen Degeneres hosted the oscars last week and make a great joke about Liza Minnelli.  Gays, transgenders and all other extremely sensitive groups took offense.  Both the above sites came to her defense saying it was funny.

The one thing progressive lefties can not agree upon is what level of sensitivity is deemed insensitive.

Progressive libbies no matter if they agree with conservatives would ever say a nice word about them, or ever come out in support of a known conservative even if they agree.

I have made some movement into my investigation into convenient stores and why they have two distinctive cash registers in their stores.  I have wondered what the scam was and why they ask "credit or debit" and then choose the register.  Today I frequented a store and the attendant gave me a little insight.  They were busy and she asked me "credit or debit", I said debit and she sighed and ran it on the machine that is typically just for credit.  A long line on both registers remind you.  I said "I didn't know that this register would run debit".  She said that it will and that the reason is the owner tells them to only use the other register if at all possible for debit.  She went on to say that the company that provided the fuel, Shamrock, Exxon, Texaco etc. looks at all transactions that go through that terminal that is typically used for credit.  I assume they take a piece of the pie.  So ladies and gentlemen that is possibly one reason why convenient stores have two registers for different payment methods.

I was guessing taxes or something.

I have known for some time that something fishy was going on, so once I know which register is which I always try to use debit on the "credit" register.  I like to see them act like the machine is down, or say it isn't working on that machine.  I now call their B.S.

What a way to live, lie everyday to hundreds of people, and make your place of business smell like a nursing home.

Twice in the past two days I have heard democrat friends say that they support drug testing for welfare.  That brings up a couple of questions, 1.  Why has it taken so long to implement, 2.  Is anyone against this?

Seems like we really should cling to the things we agree on.  Hey we agree on SOMETHING!

I don't have the same feelings to people who dodge taxes than I used to.

Comparing Gays to Civil rights is absolutely ridiculous.  It just reinforces my theory that Libs need a wounded group of people to install fear and sympathy.  Replenishing their voting ranks.

Having said that It isn't very Christian to deny services to the gay.  Christians do not deny service to prostitutes, drug addicts, and thieves.  In the eyes of God a sin is a sin.  We are the ones that list and rate sin.

God did not intend for "sin is a sin in the eyes of God" to diminish the (little sins) but to express that telling a little white lie is as bad in his eyes as murder.

The progressives in our government want stricter gun laws, why?  They are attempting to sell this by saying it will save lives.  That is an argument itself, but I will let the NRA refute that with their statistics.  To clarify, I am writing this with the opinion that stricter gun laws will not save lives.

Since when do progressives want to save lives?  Progressives want abortions at any stage of development and in some cases after birth and not only in cases of blotched abortions.  They cite many reasons for this but it boils down that if a child is undesirable then they would like to opportunity to kill the child.  Examples would be birth defects, mental retardation.  Sound familiar?

Progressives also promote euthanasia.  If someone wants to die they feel that in the best interest of the collective to allow this.  If someone is old and a burden to society they would like them to be put down.  Currently only the fringe progressives are vocal about this but you will begin seeing a larger number of them that support this.  Tie this in with universal healthcare and the cost of caring for the elderly or the mentally challenged and the totals justify controlled death.  In their opinion.

Life is not important to progressives, they hate the idea that God gives us life and it is up to God to take it.  They hate the idea that people believe in Jesus Christ.  They hate the idea of the traditional family.  The traditional family is actually opposite of what progressives see as the future of our country.  Collective transformation is what they seek, kids being raised by the government, indoctrinated by the government and excluding the parents influence in the education of our future.

So I am to understand that progressives want to restrict gun ownership with the idea that it will save lives?  They are not in the business of saving live it is actually quite the opposite.

Progressive initiatives like Agenda 21 accounts for acceptable losses after the implementation of the sustainable development programs.  Some estimate that number could be 500,000,000.  They cite that the number of humans on the earth right now will eventually kill the earth.  It might, but humans are more important that the earth.  In my opinion.

So, since when do progressives want to save lives?  I recently read a good article talking about the people committing these horrific crimes, which has brought this issue to the forefront.  Columbine, Sandy Hook, Aurora Colorado Theater just to name a few.  These murders are NOT your NRA members , they are not your average hunters, they are not your average gun nut, nor your average redneck.

They are as follows.

Ft Hood: Registered Democrat/Muslim.
Columbine: Too young to vote; both families were registered Democrats and progressive liberals.
Virginia Tech: Wrote hate mail to President Bush and to his staff.
Colorado Theater: Registered Democrat; staff worker on the Obama campaign; Occupy Wall Street participant; progressive liberal.
Connecticut School Shooter: Registered Democrat; hated Christians.

Common thread is that all of these shooters were progressive liberal Democrats.

Found at clashdaily.com from Roger Hedgecock .  http://www.rogerhedgecock.com/

So in short their own people are committing these horrible actions of protest/political statements/I don’t even know how to describe this.  They are using their own people to kill innocent lives in an effort to disarm the population.  Disarming the population is their goal, not saving lives.

The next question is why do they want to disarm the population?

I want my 12 year old boy to fail. I want him to loose and I want him to learn from those experiences. I want him to know it sucks to loose, and most importantly I want him to learn that he can fight that and work hard to prevent it. I also want him to win after he has earned it. Winning and not earning it will lead him to the Democrats. They love giving stuff to people that have not earned it. I want him to win and loose with dignity. After he learns that I want him to be able to equate that with life. I never want him to cheat, lie or take shortcuts.

I see parents doing so much for their kids, carrying their sports bags, backpacks, everything but playing the sport for them. What does that do for the child? Life is still present even after a loss or a win. I see parents carrying the kids bags after a loss like they are fragile little dolls that can't muster the energy to carry a 15lb bag because they are SO upset after a loss. Boo Hoo, you lost, move on and get over it. I bet that kid has the energy to play video games when he gets home. Kids need to know that no matter what there will be chores, rules and stuff that has to be done even after a bad game or bad day. That's life. I want the boy to know that sports are important for building character but they are just a game. Life is real and in life no one is going to carry your bag after a bad day.

I am always trying to find the happy median of giving him sports instruction. I want to teach him and I want him to learn, but I also want him to learn things on his own. I want him to be independent and be a problem solver in all walks of life. He will not learn that if I am always right there to assist him. But I will be there for him. We each learn different, I can tell him how I did it but it will not be the same for him. I try to give him the basics and let him figure out the rest. I then try to impress on him the importance of repetition. I try to keep an eye on him and make sure he isn't learning wrong. It is hard not to stand there and give every sports pointer known to man but him learning on his own is hours of practice he is getting. Plus I have learned if I am there working with him practice will not be nearly as long as when he is by himself. We all have different paces. I am learning more than he is.

People who want bigger government suck! They apparently do nothing in life but bitch and complain. Bureaucracy is killing this country. Any active business person, business owner or active employee knows this. So apparently the people that want more government don't do JACK. Otherwise they would see the BS that I and many others have to deal with.

I love the show HOMELAND. It being a cable show there are few episodes a season and I seem to be always wanting more. A good sign of a tv show. Another show The Americans is a close second. I fills the void when Homeland is not on. I highly recommend watching both.
Also:
House of cards, American or British versions.

And of course The Walking Dead. Pure greatness, probably my favorite.

Wife likes Downton Abbey. Not bad, not bad at all.

Also Justified

I love Jesus, my wife and family, Texas, and beer.

Seeing a lot of convenient stores with huge displays and even retail spaces filled with vape material.  Market must be huge.  Reminds me of mini head shops.

Teenage daughter wants to go to a Sci Fi convention.  Wants me to taker her.  I will watch sci fi all day long, in fact it is probably my favorite move and book genre.  On the DL of course.  Going to a sci fi event somehow pushes one over the edge of nerddome.  I am going to go, just gonna keep it quiet.  Here is the celebrity lineup.  Grown adults dressing like cartoons is a little off.

On this topic, the teenager is really into Japan cartoons which she adamantly calls Anime.  Let me tell you this is a weird world.  These kids are eating up these horrible cartoons.  Compulsively watching 24/7 if allowed.  I hate it.  I think it is stupid.  We have not forbidden it but we certainly limit the viewing.  We have to keep a close eye on the subject matter as well.  Not only are some of these really dark but the porn industry has moved in.  Rated R at the very least.  Wolf in Sheep's clothing.  There really is a force moving to influence our children and not for the best.  We have stumbled on a lot of disturbing material.  Mostly from deviant ART.  If you like crappy tasteless art this is the place for you.  They take the same style of anime and create porn situations and really graphic sex scenes.

Teenager is aware of this sites and genres and has stumbled across them.  She says she knows how to stay away from them and I believe that she does.  Just doesn't set well with me that the two can be associated in any way.  I hope she grows out of this FAST.

All that led us to a group called Bronies.  This is a group of mostly men from 18 to 35 that like my little pony.   Yes the cartoon from way back, it has made a resurgence recently and the kids love it. These bronies claim to be a fan of the show and troll chat rooms and conventions.  I will say that if you are a man 18-35 and you consider yourself a Bronie you are a pedophile.  You have no business in chat rooms talking to 11-12 year old girls about a freaking cartoon.  DIE looser.

Above is a typical bronie.  Want that chatting with you daughter?

When I first heard about bronies I be like WTF, today I am like WTF.

My apologies to any merchants that are trying to capitalize on this to make a buck.  But you can DIE too for perpetuating this crap.

Other Examples;

I am sure there are some bronies that a legit and do not have ill intentions toward children, but it is just weird and concerning.

I like being a dad to a newborn.

Last week coming home from the babys first dr appointment we were following a small truck that had the entire bed full of groceries.  The wife commented who needs that many eggs?  I told her that I think that is a convienient store owner that has purchased items from Sams/Costco and selling in their store.  Sure enough we followed that truck right to the convient store that has been mentioned here before.  That day was one of those unseasonably hot days, temp at the time was 75 and the closest big box store is 45 minutes away.  This guy had eggs and milk and lunch meat from what I could tell.  Is it still illegal to do that?  I remember seeing "not for individual sale" on items in the past.  Might be hard to do with Eggs.

Needless to say do not shop at the shell station east of Lavon on 78.

Intentionally avoided the SOTU address last night.  Now trying to dodge all the comments and commentary.  I am very opinionated, and hearing everyones opinion is something I could care less about.

For years as a conservative I felt like the media, pop culture and some of the 24 hour news stations opinion segmants had a very vile attitude toward conservatives.  I remember thinking the right needs someone that is just as vile and put it right back on them.  Well now we have Dennis Miller, Ann Coulter, and a slew of people lashing right back at the left.  The left seems to hate it.  They don't seem to realize that we learned if from them.  Reminds me of the 80's anti drug commercial.  HERE.

I would have rather had Hillary Clinton as president thank Obama.  Now that she is gearing up for her presidential campaign, I am scared.

Liberal friends are already showing support for her.

Conservative friends are blasting Liberal friends with "WHAT DOES IT MATTER, #BENGHAZI"

I like it.

Benghazi needs more explanization.  It will eventually hurt Hillary.

Republicans still do not have a strong canidate.

Why do the highly educated love socialism?

My first college political science teacher said about communism "it works on paper"  That is about all I took from that class.  I didn't really care about politics back then.  I cared about BEER.

I miss my college friends.  Probably the hardest part of growning up.  I'm busy they are busy, yada yada yada.

One of the reasons I avoid political issue is because I worry.  Doom and gloom bums me out.  I have to remind myself that we are here only for a short time and eternity awaits.  Prayer helps.  And not just to chill out.

I am uncomfortable with the term "awareness" as in breast cancer awareness, autism awareness, what ever awareness.  It makes me think the fundraisers are keeping the money.  I know they probably aren't and I know that there are guidelines that they have to follow, but I really don't want to donate to cancer awareness, why wouldn't they say breast cancer cure?  I would donate to that.  Is there a difference?

Baby girl arrived, she is not potty trained.  But she is awesome and perfect.

What an experience.

The hospital smelled like an old folks home, I will not be back.

I have the ability to be completely un biased, and I have to tell you looking at our newborn baby I have to say that she is the most beautiful baby ever.  Remember that I am totaly un biased.  She is just awesome.

Why would anyone want more government?  Am I a fossil?  I hate the idea of people allowing themselves to be ruled.  And that is exactly what more government means, how could any other result come from more government?

We can say that we are "ruled" every day.  But we are ruled at a comfortable rate, that rate is now no longer comfortable in my opinion.  Those that want more laws, government programs, bureaucracy need to know that they will not be in charge.  Then they can desire big government.

Banning large cokes is just an example of how ridiculous this country is becoming.  People are going to be fat if they can, banning the cokes isn't going to make people healthier.  Kook aide will still be around and people will still be pouring 3 times the amount of sugar into that tasty drink.  Ban Sugar?

I am an old school conservative, but I can honestly say that I care less about weed.

Interesting question I heard on the radio today.  "Is weed more dangerous than football?"  My initial answer to that is no.  Not factoring in if it is a gateway drug.  To that I have no idea.

It seems that progressives want to tear down old school family units.  That is not an original thought, just a thought that I think about often.  Traditional family units produce more stable happy children that grow up to produce the same.  Why would we want to change that?  If there was a new way to do that is better I would listen, but I have not seen any evidence that supports that.

Democrats and Progressives have their stuff together.  They are all on the same page it seems.  Tear down the religious, the right wing conservatives, and the salt of the earth hard worker.  Don't get me wrong I hate the progressive movement.  But while republicans are bickering among themselves they are getting a state senator with very little experience elected to the white house.

I become more libertarian every day.

I remember going to the store to buy my first hunting license, my dad said to get the duck and goose stamps.  I said are we hunting them?  He said no, but buying them does a lot for conservation.  Looking back I never would have thought my dad even knew the word conservation.  And that was way before it became cool.

I wish I had $350,000 to kill a huge animal.  I am not sure why animal rights activist are upset about this.  That money is specifically for conservation of that species, and since ole black rhino is past the making love stage he has no chance of sireing any little rhinos.  The biggest threat is poachers and the largest contributors to conservation are hunters.  What's the issue?

And why are most "protest" photos taken really low to the ground looking up?  Kidding I know why.  They do this to make it seem like there are hundreds of people behind them backing them up.  When you and I know the truth, there are maybe 6-8 protesters.  Liberal Media

I went to a convenient store yesterday and had a coupon for some Copenhagen.  The attendant looked at it and said "we don't take those".  I said coupons?  You don't take coupons?  He said "no".  I said see ya.  That store is located on Highway 78 just east of Lavon, suprise another shell station.

I support their right to not take coupons, but they lost me as a customer.  Plus that place is brand new and already smells like a nursing home.

Any trophy hunters out there that have any excess deer meat?  I got none.

I taught myself to lift weights with a bank bag of pennies.  Over time I ended up with a full set of weights.  Never went to a gym.  I am teaching the boy how to lift, and he is starting out with dumbells of his own.  He only wants to do bicep exercises.  I told him baseball pitchers don't do bicep exercises.  Is this still true?  He was perplexed.  Todays kids seem to get bummed when they realize hard work is required to meet their dreams.  I get on to him pretty hard when he says he can't.  I feel sometime he just needs to figure stuff out on his own.  He listens to my sports advice about 20% of the time.  When he sees success from this he pays a little more attention.  He has great potential, the only thing holding him back is his own desire.  He wants to be good at sports but would rather play video games.  I have told him over and over, video games will not help you in any way with sports.  And don't give me any crap about hand eye coordination.  Catching a baseball or football while running full speed is working on hand eye coordination.  Video Games melt the brain.  He will be fine once it all clicks.

On top of attempting to give solid advice to the boy about God, sports, and girls, I have to deal with his biological father giving him the worst advice ever.  Problem is the worst advice ever is coming from his dad.  So I have to be very careful how I un teach these snippets of idiocracy.  The latest was the "dad" was telling the boy to develop his wings.  REALLY?  For those of you that don't know "wings" are the latissimus dorsi muscles in the back and can be present from the front when extremely developed.  It gives bodybuilders that hourglass figure.  In my opinion they typically get developed enough by all the standard exercises done for any sport.  No real reason to develop them unless you are a body builder.  I told him football players could care less about 'wings".

The boys dad is Full of Sh *&, always what he is going to do, and how he was when he was young.  He never does what he says and his stories of his sports glory is grossly overstated.  Per people that knew him back in the day.  I do not want that for the boy.

Baby girl is coming.

I said all my life I would never get a flu shot.  That streak ended yesterday.  I was holding firm for years, however when your expecting wife says get one for the baby all sense of "holding firm" get blown out the window.  I also got the Pertussis Vaccination, (Whooping Cough) or I like to call it $60.  I was fearful that the Flu Vaccine was the precursor to the Zombie outbreak.  I am not a zombie but I feel terrible.  Could be psychological.

How long will I feel terrible?  I have stuff to do.

I regrettably frequent convenient stores way too often.  I rate them, and delete certain stores off my stop list.  I expect convenient stores to be convenient, clean, stocked with my products and I expect the attendant to be polite.  Am I asking too much?

I hate it when attendants direct me step by step on how to enter my pin for a debit transaction.  There is a Shell station in Allen where every one of the attendants tell you step by step how to press the ok button, press the debit button, enter your pin and hit ok.  It drives me freaking insane.  I do not go to that store, nor should you.  It is located at the corner of E. Bethany and Allen Heights Dr.  Don't do it you will go insane.

Other stores that get a do not stop label are stores that over stock crap.  Tiny Bonsai bamboo plants, Ak47 cigarette lighters, too many cigarette lighter, torch cigarette lighters and any general crap.  Usually a sign that you are in the wrong part of town.  Also the fake professional sports team hats, I hate that.  It should be illegal to sell knock off crap like that.  I'm sure it is but they alter it just enough to get away with is.  Who buys this stuff????

And why do some smell like old folks homes?

American owned and operated stores go to the top of the list.  But are held to the same high standards.  I am sure some would deem that racist.  I am ok with that, however I do not agree that is racist.  Buy American was a great campaign.  We should see more of it.

I wish American autos were more American.

I hate hearing Texans can't drive on ice.  Of course we can't, its freaking ice!  I have driven on ice is Colorado, no biggie.  You at least have some sense of control there.  NOT HERE, it is ice with water mixed with oil.  I don't feel bad about this negative conception.

Went to a Maverics game last night, our seats were way up there but not bad, not bad at all.  I enjoyed it, Boy had a great time.  Boy is 12.

The video board is sized just right, I only watched it to see replays.

Speaking of, that place is sensory overload.  Mavs Dancers, Mavs Maniacs, Drum Line, Mavs Man, Mavs mascot horse thing, T Shirt sling shot Guys X 6, ads running on the video boards, ribbon boards, and signage everywhere.  I noticed once that there was a half second blip of a sponsor during action on the video board.  Could have been an accident.

We sat down right at tip off and siting directly behind us were some Eastern European 20 somethings behind us being loud.  One dropped a F bomb and before he could get the second F bomb out an elderly gentlemen sitting next to us stood up and turned to the group and said "Watch Your Mouth".  Dead silence.  One of the group sincerely apologized.  That was the end of speaking English for that group.  Good fans though, so was the elderly gentle man.

Cussing at pro sporting events?  Ok?

I like Elmore Leonard.

Did not see Cubes at the game.

I've been to a lot of Cowboys games over the years.  From around 1993 to the fall of Texas Stadium.  I had season ticket and knew most of the people around us.  All courteous, outgoing and good to be around.  Our section was a little reserved, I had a few issues when selling tickets and them being loud and obnoxious.   The next game I would hear about it.  I would just say I needed the money and sorry.  I secretly wanted our section to be the rowdy section.  Not the cussers or loud and obnoxious but loud and active seems like the way to do it.  I started going with my dad and he would only cheer on turnovers, points scored or bone head plays.  He fit right in at section 29.  I miss that place, it had a smell and Aura about it.  I went to one game at the Death Star.  Meh.  Talk about sensory overload!  Vidya Board is what it is.

For the first time in my sports fan life I am secretly rooting for other teams.  The Saints and the Texans.

Is it weird for people to cheer for teams of cities they have no connection to?

Baby Girls is a week away.  Getting nervous.

Welcome ME

New to the blogging world, but I just have so much to say.

Cowboys are once again 8 & 8.  BLAH

Romo is not to blame!

My wife and I are having a baby next week.  I am kind of nervous.  I got two kids when I married my wife, they were potty trained.  That was huge.  This one most likely will not be.  I already love her.  Oh yeah its a girl.

Christmas was nice this year.  I did not knock one out of the park with gifts to my wife.  Although she did not say, I think she was disappointed.  I will do better next year.  Not in terms of amounts but in terms of giving gifts she wants, needs.  Which can only come from listening, which I always need to work on.

New baby is why I am not hunting this year.  I am ok with that.

New baby will hunt! At a very young age.  I worry that the hunting culture will be phased out by the time she is of age.  I do not like the fact the this could be true.

From my experience, kids that hunt early in life do not end up in prison.

If there is one thing that women do not want, it is someone's opinion!
